Fix Tan Lines Before an Event — The Bronze Lily, St. Petersburg, FL

Fixing Tan Lines · St. Petersburg, FL

Tan lines, fixed before you go.

The strapless dress is on Saturday. The strap marks are from Tuesday OR a summer spent running in a sports bra.

A Florida life leaves lines: the strap, the golf glove, the tennis skirt, the beach week. A custom spray tan does not pretend they never happened, but in the right hands it blends them until they stop mattering — more depth where you are light, less where you are dark, one even pass over the top. Spray tan from $45 · Body Buffing Prep $15 · Double Dip $10. Same-day is often realistic.

The short answer

Fixing tan lines, in plain terms.

Think of a tan line as two skin tones sharing a border. A spray tan can do three things to that border. Raise the light side — the artist airbrushes more solution on the pale strap mark or sock line so it catches up to the surrounding tan. Soften the dark side — the existing tan is exfoliated and buffed so the border loses its hard edge (Body Buffing Prep, $15, in the studio). Even everything over the top — a full-body pass that unifies the tone so the eye stops finding the line. A strong line will usually soften to “you have to look for it” rather than vanish, and we will tell you which yours is at the consultation rather than after.

Text a photo of the lines to (727) 218-7045 and we will tell you honestly what to expect. See the full spray tan page.

How it is done

Blending tan lines, step by step.

Assess the contrast. A faint strap mark and a six-week golf-glove line are different jobs. Your artist looks at how much lighter the light side is and whether the dark side is fresh, peeling, or settled.

Lift what needs lifting. If the old tan is patchy or peeling, Body Buffing Prep ($15) exfoliates it in the studio right before we spray. Exfoliating at home 24 hours ahead helps; the day of, leave it to us.

Build the light side. The pale areas get extra passes, by hand, feathered outward so there is no new edge. For strong contrast, the Double Dip ($10) adds a second application to the light zones so they can catch up without over-darkening the rest.

Even the canvas. A full-body pass over the top at your chosen depth, face lighter, neck faded, hands and feet dry-brushed. The result is one tone with a soft memory of the line, not two tones with a border.

Being honest about it

Being honest about real limits.

Fresh, dark, high-contrast lines soften; they do not vanish. If you came back from a week in the sun yesterday with white strap marks, we can take the border from obvious to subtle, and a dress or a photo will be fine. Under close inspection in daylight you may still find it. We say this before, not after.

Sunburn has to heal first. Spraying over peeling or sunburned skin wastes the tan — it comes off with the skin. Give it a few days, moisturise, then come in.

Timing for the event. Signature two days before (develops overnight, settles the day after); a Rapid the morning of or the day before if time is short. Your artist confirms your rinse window before you leave.

Keep it blended. Moisturise daily after the first rinse, avoid exfoliating the light zones, and the blend lasts the life of the tan (7–10 days; 10–14 for Sweat-Resistant).

Cancellations. Twenty-four hours’ notice is required. Cancellations under 24 hours are 50% of service cost; no-shows, arrivals 15+ minutes late, or cancellations under 4 hours are 100%. All bookings require a card on file — no deposits. Phone call or text to (727) 218-7045 are the only valid ways to cancel or reschedule. All sales are final.

Tan Lines · Common Questions

Tan line FAQ.

Can a spray tan fix tan lines?

It blends them. A hand-airbrushed tan can add depth to the light side of a line, soften the dark side with exfoliation, and even the whole body over the top so the border stops standing out. Faint lines effectively disappear; strong, fresh lines soften to subtle. The Bronze Lily tells you which yours is before spraying.

Can you fix tan lines before a wedding or a strapless dress?

Yes — strap marks are the most common tan-line job we do. Book a Signature ($45) two days before the event so it develops and settles, and mention the lines when you book so your artist allows the time to feather them by hand.

How do you blend golf, tennis or pickleball tan lines?

The pale glove, sock or shorts zones get extra passes feathered outward, and for strong contrast the Double Dip ($10) adds a second application to those zones only. Then a full-body pass evens the tone. Body Buffing Prep ($15) first if the old tan is patchy.

Can you spray tan over a sunburn or peeling skin?

No — the tan comes off with the peeling skin and the result is patchy. Let it heal for a few days, moisturise, then come in. We will say so if you arrive burned.

Will the tan lines come back as the spray tan fades?

The blend fades with the tan. Daily moisturiser after the first rinse and no scrubbing of the light zones keeps it even for the full 7–10 days (10–14 for Sweat-Resistant).

What is Body Buffing Prep?

A $15 professional exfoliation in the studio right before we spray, for when the old tan is patchy or peeling or you forgot to exfoliate at home. It takes the hard edge off existing lines before the new tan goes on.

What is the Double Dip?

A $10 second application of solution. For tan lines it goes on the light zones only, so they can catch up to the surrounding skin without over-darkening everything else.

Can I get this done same-day?

Often. We are open 7 AM to 11 PM seven days by appointment and Larae sprays every day; text (727) 218-7045 with a photo of the lines. Book a Signature tan online.
