Head Spa for Curly Hair — The Bronze Lily, St. Petersburg, FL

Head Spa for Curly Hair · St. Petersburg, FL

Curly hair, welcome.

Your scalp gets the work. Your curl pattern leaves exactly as it came.

Curly and wavy hair has rules — no sulfates, no silicones, no heat, never brush it dry — and the Japanese head spa at The Bronze Lily happens to follow every one of them. The products are sulfate-, paraben- and silicone-free; the exfoliation is on the scalp, not the lengths; the fourth step is a deep conditioner through the hair; detangling is done wet with wide-tooth combs; and the finish is a rough dry to 60–80% or a simple braid, no hot tools. Curls get the scalp care they rarely get at a salon, and nobody flat-irons the result. Relax & Detox $120 · condition rituals $145 · VIP Full Ritual $225.

The short answer

Curly hair and the head spa, in plain terms.

The reason curly hair so often has an unhappy scalp is that the scalp is hard to reach: product builds up at the roots, washing is less frequent to protect the curl, and conditioners made for the lengths end up on the skin. A head spa reverses that. The Tricho-Analyzer reads the scalp at 50× first, the micro-exfoliant mask and targeted shampoo clear what has built up at the root, the treatment mask and serums go where the camera says they are needed, and then the lengths get the deep conditioner they actually want. Water through the halo is warm. Detangling is done wet, with the conditioner in, using wide-tooth combs. What we do not do: brush dry curls, blow-dry straight, or use anything with silicone or sulfate.

Prefer it styled on the way out? The Botanical Blowout ($70, with Adriana, every day but Thursday) can be a diffused finish — say “curls” when you add it. See the full head spa page.

How the ritual treats curls

The curl-safe ritual, step by step.

Scalp reading first. Build-up, dryness, oil, irritation — the Tricho-Analyzer shows it, and it decides which of the European biodynamic formulas are used. Curly scalps often read dry at the skin and oily at the root at the same time; the products are chosen for that.

Exfoliate the scalp, not the hair. The micro-exfoliant mask and targeted shampoo work at the root with fingertips, the halo water rinsing in a ring. The lengths are not scrubbed, which is how curls get frizzed and broken elsewhere.

Condition and detangle wet. The deep conditioning treatment goes through the lengths and sits while your hands and arms are massaged; detangling happens then, wet, wide-tooth comb, from the ends up.

Finish without heat. Scalp serums, then a rough dry to 60–80% with hands and a towel, or a simple braid ($10 for a professional braid finish). If you have a leave-in routine at home, pick it up when you get there; we finish with our own serums and nothing that fights your curl.

Being honest about it

The finish, your way.

Braids and locs are not bookable for the head spa — the ritual needs the scalp reachable and the lengths loose. Twist-outs, wash-and-gos, and any loose curl are fine. See the honest answer on braids, locs and extensions.

Your curls will be wet-set by the ritual, not styled. Air-dry on the way home, or add the Botanical Blowout as a diffused finish. If you cannot leave with damp hair, book the blowout or plan the day around it.

We use our own products, start to finish. Our therapists are trained on our European, biodynamic, vegan lines, which is how the result stays consistent and safe — so we do not apply outside products in the suite. Tell us about allergies or a curl routine you are protective of and the therapist calibrates the mix.

Tight, dry or flaking scalp under the curls? The Nourishing Dry Scalp ($145) is the better booking than the Relax & Detox; the reading on arrival confirms it either way.

We are not making medical claims. A head spa is scalp care, not treatment, and your therapist is not diagnosing anything. If a scalp problem is new, painful, spreading or not improving, see a dermatologist first — and tell us at intake either way, so we work gently around it.

Cancellations. Twenty-four hours’ notice is required. Cancellations under 24 hours are 50% of service cost; no-shows, arrivals 15+ minutes late, or cancellations under 4 hours are 100%. All bookings require a card on file — no deposits. Phone call or text to (727) 218-7045 are the only valid ways to cancel or reschedule. All sales are final.

Curly Hair · Common Questions

Curly hair FAQ.

Can I get a Japanese head spa with curly hair?

Yes, and it suits curls unusually well: sulfate-, paraben- and silicone-free products, exfoliation on the scalp rather than the lengths, a deep conditioner through the hair, wet detangling with wide-tooth combs, and a finish with no hot tools. The Bronze Lily, St. Petersburg, from $120.

Will the head spa ruin my curl pattern?

No. Nothing in the ritual straightens, brushes dry or heats the hair. You leave wet-set — rough-dried to 60–80% or in a simple braid — and air-dry or diffuse at home. Add the Botanical Blowout ($70) for a diffused finish in the studio.

Do you use sulfates or silicones?

No. The products are European, biodynamic, vegan hair care free from sulfates, parabens, silicones and harsh chemicals, chosen from your Tricho-Analyzer scalp reading.

How do you detangle curly hair during a head spa?

Wet, with the deep conditioner in, using wide-tooth combs from the ends upward, while the conditioner sits. Dry curls are never brushed.

Can I bring my own curl products?

No — our therapists work only with our European, biodynamic, vegan product lines, which is how we keep results consistent and safe. Tell us about allergies or a routine you are protective of when you book and the therapist calibrates the mix; apply your own leave-in or gel once you are home.

My scalp is dry and flaky under my curls. Which head spa should I book?

The Nourishing Dry Scalp ritual ($145, 75 minutes). The scalp reading on arrival confirms it; if it reads oily at the root instead, the Rebalancing Oily Scalp ritual is the swap.

Can I get a head spa with braids, twists or locs?

Loose twist-outs and wash-and-gos, yes. Braids and locs are not bookable — the ritual needs the scalp reachable and the lengths loose. Most hair extensions are fine; tape-ins are not.

Will I leave with wet hair?

Damp — rough-dried to 60–80% or braided. Book the Botanical Blowout as a diffused finish if you need to leave styled. Book Relax & Detox online or text (727) 218-7045.
