The short answer
For most people, no — it's comfortable. Our whitening is a plant-based, dentist-grade LED session run in measured 2-to-3 rounds. Any sensitivity is usually brief “zings,” not lasting pain, and settles within a day. It happens because whitening temporarily opens tiny channels in enamel — a normal, temporary effect, not damage. Tell us if your teeth are sensitive and we'll tailor it. Most clients leave 4–8 shades brighter. See whitening or book.
Sensitivity fear keeps more people from whitening than anything else. The honest truth: the reality is far milder than the dread — and there's a lot we do to keep it that way.
Here's what's actually happening. Whitening gel briefly opens the microscopic channels in your enamel to lift stains. While those channels are open, teeth can feel a little more reactive to hot and cold. That's the whole mechanism behind “sensitivity” — it's temporary and normal, not damage, and it closes back up within a day or so.
What it actually feels like
Most people feel nothing more than the occasional brief “zing.” It's a quick sensation, not a lasting ache, and it passes. Our session uses a plant-based, dentist-grade gel and LED light in a controlled 2-to-3 round protocol — measured on purpose so you get real brightening without pushing your teeth harder than they need. You're reclined and comfortable the whole time.
Sensitivity is your enamel doing something temporary, not something being harmed. It fades — the brighter smile stays.
How to keep it comfortable
A few easy moves make a real difference: tell us if you already have sensitive teeth so we can tailor the rounds, use a sensitivity or fluoride toothpaste for a few days before and after, and skip very hot or very cold foods and drinks for about 24–48 hours afterward. Stay hydrated. That's genuinely most of it.
Is it safe for my enamel and dental work?
Yes. Professional whitening doesn't harm healthy enamel — it lifts surface and embedded stains. Our gel is safe on all dental work, with one honest caveat: it won't change the color of crowns, veneers, or fillings, so your brightening shows on natural teeth. If you have extensive dental work, we'll set expectations before we begin.
What you'll actually get
The Signature Session runs about 45 minutes to an hour and most clients leave 4 to 8 shades brighter. Want a bigger, longer-lasting change? The Bright Bundle of three sessions builds results over time. Curious how this compares to the drugstore aisle? Professional whitening vs strips.
