The Don CeSar is the wedding venue everyone wants. But where do you actually stay if you're not the bride? And how does the bridal party get its beauty prep done without losing a full day to the ride? Here's the honest guide.

Tampa Bay's pink castle on the Gulf has hosted celebrity weddings for nearly a century. It's a flagship venue — pink stucco, Mediterranean towers, beachfront, full-service catering, walkable ceremony sites along the sand. Saturdays book up 18+ months ahead and the bridal-suite block goes early. Unless your budget covers a Don CeSar room block for 40 guests, you're going to need a hotel strategy that places your bridal party, your guests, and the bride's beauty appointments in three different places that all somehow work together.

I've worked weddings at the Don for 14 years. This is how the smart brides plan it.

Why the Don CeSar is everyone's first pick

It's iconic for a reason. The "Pink Lady" has a century of beach-wedding history, on-site catering, a spa, multiple ballrooms, walkable ceremony sites directly on the sand, and rooms with Gulf-facing balconies. It's a self-contained universe — you can do the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and the next morning's brunch without ever leaving the property. For a destination wedding with out-of-town guests who want a real Florida-beach experience, it's hard to argue with.

The trade-off is price and availability. Don CeSar rooms during wedding season aren't cheap, and the room block sells out fast. That's where the surrounding hotels come in.

Beach hotels within 5 minutes of the Don

If you want guests on the beach and close to the venue, you have two strong alternates:

  • Hotel Zamora — boutique Mediterranean property on Gulf Blvd. Rooftop bar, intimate scale, the bridal party often stays here. Roughly a 5-minute ride to the Don.
  • Postcard Inn — more relaxed, surfer vibe, two pools, casual beachfront restaurant. Good for guests who want the beach but don't need formality. Also about 5 minutes from the Don.

Both are walkable distance up Gulf Blvd if your wedding party is fit and the weather cooperates. Most groups rideshare anyway.

Downtown hotels 20-25 minutes away — for a different vibe

Some guests would rather be downtown — closer to restaurants, museums, the Vinoy Park waterfront, the Pier district. For them, the downtown St. Pete options are great:

  • The Vinoy Resort — 1925 historic landmark on the downtown waterfront. Fully restored. Marble lobby, golf course, marina. The "old Florida" energy — very different feel from the beach but stunning in its own right. Roughly 20–25 minutes by ride to the Don CeSar.
  • Cordova Inn — smaller boutique property in downtown St. Pete. Walkable to Beach Drive restaurants. Less luxury than the Vinoy, more character. Same ride time to the Don.

The downtown move is best for guests who want some St. Pete city in their trip and don't mind the rideshare to the venue. It's also the move for guests who want to be closer to us — which brings us to the beauty pipeline.

Where to get your beauty + wellness prep done

The Bronze Lily is at 2851 1st Avenue N, downtown St. Petersburg. Our brow + waxing + lash + facial + spray tan rooms are on the first floor. Head Spa and Foot Spa (the Root Room) are on the second floor. Same building, both levels.

Ride times for a Don CeSar wedding:

  • From the Vinoy or Cordova Inn — about 8 minutes
  • From the Don CeSar / Hotel Zamora / Postcard Inn — about 20–25 minutes

If your wedding party is staying at the beach hotels, plan for the 20–25 minute ride each way and build that into your appointment scheduling. If your party is downtown, you're essentially next door to us.

How to time everything for a Don CeSar wedding

Here's a sample wedding-week timeline I'd give a bride staying at the Don with a 6-person bridal party:

  • Wednesday — arrival, welcome dinner, settle in. No services.
  • Thursday — bridal party comes to the studio. Brow + Lash Tint Combo ($45 each) for the bridesmaids, bride's package whitening session, manicures and pedicures (you'll want a separate nail studio referral — that's not us). Total studio time: 2 to 3 hours for the whole group.
  • Friday — Sweat-Resistant Rapid spray tans for the wedding party ($63 each, the only sweat-resistant rapid formula in St. Pete and the right call for beach weddings). Bride does her package Signature Lily Facial plus her lash full set the same day if scheduling allows, or splits across two appointments.
  • Saturday morning — only light prep. Everything's done. Hydrate, eat breakfast, makeup artist arrives at the suite.

Beach weddings = humidity + salt air + wind. Sweat-Resistant Rapid Spray Tan is built for exactly this. Don't skimp on the formula.

Mobile-to-suite at the Don CeSar for spray tan + welded jewelry

For groups that don't want to ride downtown, we come to you. Mobile spray tan is $100 per person plus a mileage fee for distances 10+ miles from the studio. The Don is about 25 minutes from us, so the mileage fee applies — but if you bundle services on one trip (mobile spray tan plus mobile welded jewelry plus mobile teeth whitening, for example), one mileage fee covers the whole booking. That's the cheat code.

This is the most common bachelorette + bridal-party stack: one Friday-afternoon visit to the suite at the Don, our artists set up in the bridal-party room, we do the welded sterling or 14k gold-filled bracelets first (under 5 minutes per person), the spray tans next, then the teeth whitening last (45–60 min, 3 at a time). Group leaves with a tan, a keepsake, and brighter teeth — and didn't lose a single hour to a rideshare.

Salt-air and Florida humidity reality check

Beach weddings come with conditions. Humidity sits at 70–90% from May through September. Salt air corrodes everything it touches, gentle wind moves to gusty wind without warning, and the bride is going to sweat at some point in the night. Sweat-Resistant Rapid Spray Tan ($63) is built for exactly this — bonded more aggressively to the skin's outer layer so it survives sweat, water exposure, and the humidity wall that meets you the second you step outside.

For a deeper read on what humidity does to spray tans and why the formula choice matters, see our Florida-Humidity Survival Guide. Short version: don't skimp.

A Don CeSar wedding is a flagship moment. The hotel block is the puzzle, the beauty pipeline is the rest. Plan the rideshare. Bundle the mobile services. Pick the right formula. Then go enjoy the pink castle.
