Lash Extensions for Hooded, Mature & Monolid Eyes — The Bronze Lily, St. Petersburg, FL

Lashes for Your Eye Shape · St. Petersburg, FL

Lashes for hooded, mature and monolid eyes, done right.

Mapped to the eye in front of us, not to a chart on the wall.

If a lid fold swallows your lashes, or a straight set made your eyes look smaller, it was a mapping problem, not an eye problem. Every set here starts with your eye shape — the curl, the lengths and where the weight sits. Classic $120 · Volume & Hybrid $150 · Mega Volume $180. Free 15-minute consultation, private suite, seven days a week.

The short answer

Mapping for your eye shape, in plain terms.

Hooded eyes have a fold of skin that sits over part of the lid, so a lash that is long but not curled enough disappears under it. The fix is a stronger curl and a map that keeps the longest lengths where the hood opens, never at the outer corner where it closes. Monolids have little or no visible crease, so the lashes need lift at the base and lengths that open the eye rather than extend it sideways. Mature eyes are usually hooded eyes plus finer, sparser natural lashes — the map is lighter and shorter than it was at thirty, and the curl does the work the length used to. In every case the consultation is where it is decided, with your eyes open and closed, before a single lash goes on.

How we map it

The mapping, step by step.

Curl first. For a hood or a monolid, curl matters more than length. A stronger curl (your artist will talk about L and M curls) lifts the extension up and out from the base so it clears the fold and shows when your eyes are open. A gentle curl on a hooded eye is how sets end up invisible.

Then where the length lives. A classic cat-eye map pushes the longest lashes to the outer corner — on many hooded eyes that is exactly where the lid closes, so it drags the eye down. We map the longest lengths over the centre and the open part of the eye, and taper where the hood takes over.

Then weight. Finer natural lashes, which come with age and with some eye shapes, carry less. Your artist chooses the lightest extension that gives the look, and will say so if what you asked for is heavier than your lashes can hold — retention and lash health come first.

Then style. Classic for a defined, natural lift; Hybrid for texture; Volume for soft density that reads as fullness rather than length; Mega for drama. All four can be mapped for a hood, a monolid or a mature eye. What changes is the curl, the lengths and the map, not the menu.

Being honest about it

Choosing what your eyes tolerate.

If a previous set made your eyes look smaller, bring a photo of it. Seeing what did not work is the quickest way for your artist to see the fix, and it is usually a curl and a map, not a different style entirely.

Glasses, contacts, sensitive eyes. Tell us at booking. Lengths are kept inside the line of a glasses lens, contacts come out for the appointment, and if you have reacted to adhesive before, a complimentary patch test booked 48–72 hours ahead is how to find out before a full set.

Fills. Every two to three weeks, 60–90 minutes, from $65 Classic, $85 Volume & Hybrid, $95 Mega. The map is kept on file so the set stays the shape it was designed to be. A mini fill (from $45) is available 6–7 days after a fill done here.

Wearing a set from another artist? The Outside Fill (starting from $110) is where we assess it, correct the map if it is working against your eye shape, and fill to our standard. Most studios will not touch another artist’s work; we do.

Cancellations. Twenty-four hours’ notice is required. Cancellations under 24 hours are 50% of service cost; no-shows, arrivals 15+ minutes late, or cancellations under 4 hours are 100%. All bookings require a card on file — no deposits. Phone call or text to (727) 218-7045 are the only valid ways to cancel or reschedule. All sales are final.

Hooded, Mature & Monolid Eyes · Common Questions

Eye shape FAQ.

What are the best lash extensions for hooded eyes?

A set with a stronger curl and the longest lengths mapped over the open part of the eye, tapering where the fold closes. Style is secondary — Classic, Hybrid, Volume and Mega can all be mapped for a hood. What makes or breaks it is the curl and where the length sits, which your artist decides at the consultation with your eyes open and closed.

Can I get lash extensions with monolids?

Yes. Monolids need lift at the base and lengths that open the eye rather than extend it sideways, so your artist uses a stronger curl and a centre-weighted map. A cat-eye map usually works against a monolid; an open-eye or doll-style map usually works with it.

Are lash extensions a good idea for mature eyes or over 50?

Yes, mapped correctly. Mature eyes are usually hooded eyes with finer, sparser natural lashes, so the set is lighter and shorter than it would have been at thirty and the curl does the work the length used to. Heavy or long sets on finer lashes are what cause the drooping, tired look people worry about — we do not do that.

Will lash extensions make my hooded eyes look smaller?

Not if they are mapped for a hood. Eyes look smaller when a gentle curl disappears under the fold or when outer-corner length drags the lid down. A stronger curl and centre-weighted lengths do the opposite: they open the eye.

Which style should I pick: Classic, Hybrid, Volume or Mega?

Classic ($120) for a defined natural lift; Hybrid ($150) for texture; Volume ($150) for soft density that reads as fullness; Mega ($180) for drama. For hooded and mature eyes, Volume often gives more visible fullness than long Classic lashes because the weight sits at the base. We will recommend at the consultation.

Can I wear glasses with lash extensions?

Yes. Tell us at booking and we keep the lengths inside the line of your lenses so the lashes do not brush the glass. Contacts come out for the appointment.

Do you offer a consultation before I commit?

Yes — a complimentary 15-minute consultation, in the suite, where we look at your eye shape, talk style and mapping, and check allergy history. If you have reacted to lash adhesive before, a complimentary patch test can be booked 48–72 hours ahead.

Who does the lashes, and when?
